UPDATE: FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4
Parents and Community Members,
We are closer to getting in front of the COVID outbreak in the school.
The closure this week and next is the result of multiple students and staff who have tested positive. The high number of students who are close contacts and the number of staff in quarantine or positive made it necessary to implement our school wide remote learning plan until AT LEAST December 14th.
With the assistance of county health, we have developed a strategy to be safely back in school Monday, December 14th, but that will absolutely depend on our students ability to isolate this weekend and next week. HS/jh practice will not start until we have the been able to hit the "reset" and bring students into a covid free school.
Phase 1: Complete cleaning and sanitizing of the school. This required a complete 48hour shut down, followed by a deep clean.
Phase 2: All Staff and Teachers Covid Free
This is the first step to getting safely back in school. Almost the entire staff at the school including teachers, paras, kitchen, and maintenance voluntarily received covid testing and have been in quarantine since the break and will be cleared next week. I would like to thank them for their dedication and for the outstanding job they have done with covid and this transition to remote learning.
Phase 3: All Students Covid Free
This is the tough one. We have had a higher number than anticipated of positive covid cases in students. Those aware of their virus are in quarantine and will be ready to resume school soon. But it is those who may not be aware that we would like to be covid free, which requires adequate quarantine time without getting into groups and/or a simple covid test to validate... along with all the known precautionary measures: mask, hand washing, and avoiding contact with eyes, nose and mouth.
In an effort to make it easy for students and families to know if they are clear of the virus, Teton County Health has made FREE TESTING available in the school parking lot on Monday, December 7th available to: ALL K-12 STUDENTS AND ANY COMMUNITY MEMEBERS CONSIDERED A CLOSE CONTACT OR EXPERIENCING SYMPTOMS.
This was set up to assist Frontier Family Practice with the current high volume of testing in Fairfield and to help families/students by making it free and easy.
ALLUVIAN of GF will providing a Remote Testing set-up in the school parking lot that will be a simple drive through opportunity to test. It is easy and those testing will not even need to get out of their vehicle. They could easily do all students and additional community members if needed between 12pm and 3pm Monday.
THIS IS A VOLUNTARY BUT ENCOURAGED TESTING OPPORTUNITY.
You are welcome to call Teton County Health with questions.
