Applied Science Updates

Mrs. Jenkins' Applied Physics class is building electric guitars again this year. For several years now, Mrs. Jenkins has done this project with her students. It is a great cross curricular projects that integrates science theory, writing, and hands-on building skills. From time to time, they will share pictures of their project along with a brief write-up of what they are doing. The first one is listed below from Kash Bouma.

My name is Kash Bouma, and this week we worked on shaping our guitars to our body. We drew the outline of what we want done and started shaping. We put a piece of carpet on the outside of the body in between the body and the vice grip and used a Shinto rasp to take away the wood. We learned how to use a Shinto rasp which was very fun to use, and I also got to use a round file to smooth out the parts where I rasped.
